I learned a great deal about my trade including design, installing and commissioning of fully automated plant, motor control and maintenance, cable-tray, conduit. I've also had experience in using and detonating industrial explosives in controlled blasting. On the theory end of it we did considerable work on full automation, PLC programming and electronics along with auto-fault-reading, signal switching and testing and commissioning. We also branched out to other trades. We as a team did all our own welding, along with all the plumbing and pneumatics in all quarries relating to the north east, and down as far as Westmeath. This provided me with an ample start to join new company contracts on new installations such as Abbots and Manor Farm, both giving me excellent experience in “controlled environment” installations.I’ve enjoyed a spell on the “snow white” project, in Hammerfest, Norway as part of a massive team of commissioners and electrician. Here I worked on the specialized cranes, contracted by Barnsley Cranes Ltd. Working in conjunction with crane engineers and managerial teams, to allow the best service possible out of the machines, we provided a professional opinion and back-up schematics as to the safest and most efficient running of the cranes for easy usage and future maintenance of both cranes and plant alike. In Sweden we wired, installed and commissioned a new fully automated iron ore plant in the biggest coal/gold/copper mine in Europe within 2 months.
