Professional Experience
2001-2006 Head of Engineering Department for United Oil company, Qurna, Iraq. Responsibilities included: • Carrying out full engineering analyses of rig site data and preparing regular well reports; • Designing of casing, drilling fluids, cementing plans, and drill bit programs; • Analyzing relevant drilling data on site and recommending immediate actions as necessary; • Monitoring the daily progress of well operations and current daily costs, comparing actual costs with cost expenditure proposals and recommending changes or improvements; • Monitoring safety and environment related issues and ensuring the good maintenance of the well; • Implementing ISO – 9000 – 2000; • Working with multidisciplinary professionals to evaluate the commercial viability of the well and monitor progress during drilling; • Administering drilling and service contracts, engineering design and the planning of wells. 1989-2001 Al-Baath University, Petroleum Department, Homs, Syria Lecturer Responsibilities included: • Taught undergraduate students in the following courses: - Drilling Engineering; - Drilling Fluids; - Mechanics of drilling and production equipments; - Mechanics of rock breaking • Participates in composing the following books: - Drilling fluids, 1996 - Mechanics of drilling and production equipment, 1995 • Participates in research to improve the characters of bentonite clay and extend its usage. • Supervised the drilling fluids laboratory - Training students on mud testing; - Implemented drilling fluid analysis from major Syrian oil field • Supervised the students during summer training with the Syrian Petroleum Company.
