Professional Experience
Exploration Geologist with over 17 years experience of full petroleum systems analysis in both regional prospectivity assessment and detailed prospect identification and definition. Proficiency in basin analysis, including facies and reservoir characterization, stratigraphic correlation, sedimentology of carbonate and mixed siliciclastic-carbonate formations, carbonate petrography, biostratigraphy and log analyses. Fifteen years professional experience on leading-coordinating teams comprised of geologists, micropaleontologists, geochemists, and technicians. I have managed two laboratories (paleontology and geochemistry), with an initial budget of 500,000 EUR for implementation. Supervised personnel included 3 geologists and 8 technicians, and have been involved on development and application that resulted c. 2 Million EUR governmental funding of new integrated multidisciplinary approaches to oil exploration topics. This has included development and roll out of effective governance, raising internal and external profile, attracting significant new funding for posts and enabling and triggering new research opportunities. Since 1996 I have been conducting R&D on modern and fossil carbonate formations, mainly focussed on diagenetic environments through the study of isotopic and morphological signatures; biostratigraphy and petrography, geochemistry, lithostratigraphy, paleoenvironmental analysis, and sequence stratigraphic studies of fluvial/shallow marine and deep marine deposits. Author of c. 30 peer-reviewed papers, and have presented more than 90 conference papers/technical reports.

I hold two PhD´s degrees, in sedimentology (2007) and geochemistry (2011). I am also fluent in English with conversational Portuguese, author of c. 30 peer-reviewed papers, and have presented more than 90 conference papers/technical reports.
