Severn Glocon Group has announced that orders for the supply of its specialist control valves for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units have increased by 300%. The uplift has brought in an estimated £5 million of additional revenue for the company. Orders have come predominately from FPSOs destined for Brazil where oil and gas is extracted from under a pre-salt layer in ultra deep waters.
The Group’s UK and Global manufacturing facilities, renowned for their manufacturing and testing capability and world class engineering have produced severe service valves ranging from 2 inches to 24 inches in size. Due to the expansion of its operations in the region the company has opened an office in Brazil to further develop its presence in key markets for FPSO’s.
“Our supply of valves to FPSOs has significantly increased with most of our orders coming from the growth in the FPSO market in Brazil and Angola,” said Ron Baker, Director of Sales at Severn Glocon.
He continues: “This growth is primarily due to FPSOs being the ideal way of processing and storing oil and gas from deep and ultra deep water as conventional platforms are not feasible in this environment. Our flexible manufacturing capacity, combined with extensive offshore experience, makes us the ideal partner for FPSO projects. We also appreciate the challenges of the current developments in pre-salt oil and gas fields, where the high pressure and unpredictable levels of solids and liquids bring major challenges in designing valves robust enough to stand the process conditions.
“Our world class engineering intelligence brings our wealth of processing and manufacturing experience to the table. This enables us to work quickly and efficiently to specify and manufacture valves that will bring maximum operational efficiency for the long-term.”
The FPSO market is forecast to enjoy continued growth in 2011 with more FPSOs being envisaged for South America and the Gulf of Mexico.
