HRT Participaçoes em Petroleo S.A announces that its subsidiary HRT O&G Exploraçao e Produçao de Petroleo Ltda (“HRT O&G”), on June 16, 2012 at 00:00 a.m., spudded the well 1-HRT-9-AM, in the Castanheira prospect (1-HRT-191-03-AM), located in the Block SOL-T-191, in the Solimoes Sedimentary Basin, in the Municipality of Carauari-AM.
The well 1-HRT-9-AM will test the presence of hydrocarbons in an anticlinal structure of approximately 20 km² area located to the south of the Jurua Field in a possible extension of the gas trend recently confirmed by 1-HRT-5-AM (gas discovery at the Sandalo Prospect). In the past, this trend has been successfully tested by three previous Petrobras wells. In addition, one well is currently under drilling (1-HRT-8-AM) that we believe can be concluded in the next three weeks.
The confirmation of gas deposits in this well is part of a major objective to quantify this new gas province encompassing part of blocks 191, 192, 169 and 170, aiming to advance with the gas monetization strategy being conducted by HRT and TNK Brasil. It is our plan to submit an Assessment Plan (PAD) of this gas trend to ANP in due time.
