‘Through efforts made by the country’s scientific centers and domestic manufacturers, from 2015 onward, Islamic Republic of Iran not only will achieve the expertise of making onshore drilling rigs but will be able to export those equipments’, Moqqadam told Shana.
Stating that Science and Industry University is slated to manufacture 12 onshore drilling rigs, the official said: out of these 12 drilling rigs, 10 rigs will be made by using reverse engineering techniques and the other two will be delivered to oil industry as Iranian brands.
In manufacturing of two Iranian brand drilling rigs, designing, engineering, equipments and parts will be fully Iranian made, according to the official.
Earlier petroleum ministry’s general director of technological affairs, Mohammad Ebrahim Shafiei, reported of singing initial agreement with Academic Jihad for manufacturing of 12 drilling rigs adding the final contract would be singed in near future in the presence of Iranian minister of petroleum.
Shafiei noted that the ministry aims to achieve technical know-how of manufacturing drilling rigs and its sideline facilities. He added sometimes localization of some technologies including ability of manufacturing well bore and wellhead equipments is more important than manufacturing drilling rig itself.
