Speaking to Shana, Mohaddes said two dimension seismic operations in Kapeh Dagh region in northeast of the country was near completion adding with regard to preliminary results it was decided seismic operations to be continued for achieving a more comprehensive result.
‘It is predicted seismic operations in Kape Dagh region to be completed in next couple of months and after analyzing data the most appropriate location will be chosen for drilling’, NIOC’s exploration manager said.
At least one location has been determined for drilling but in order to implement a comprehensive plan it is hoped more locations to be chosen after completion of seismic operations, according to Mohaddes.
Mohaddes also said that exploratory operations were underway in Karand region near the border with Turkmenistan.
Referring to drilling of 4.300 meters in Karand region, mohaddes said: We have not yet reached the main exploratory layers in the region even though we have approached them.
He noted that in view of geological issues, Karand region is less known in comparison to layers located in southern part of the country, so it demands more accurate studies.
Karand region as an exploratory target is located between Gonbad and Bandar Torkaman cities northeast of Iran near the border with Turkmenistan.
