Kavian Petrochemical Plant which its construction has progressed by 97 percent is on the verge of commissioning.
Manager of petrochemical plans at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Ahmad Reza Haidarnia made the remarks adding the construction of the plant will be completed in near future and after that it will be capable to produce one million tons of ethylene per year plus other products in the first phase.
One of the most important achievements of Kavian Petrochemical plant is that it benefits from equipments have been made domestically so that more than 80 percent of them are Iranian made, Haidarnian said.
By launching both phases, Kavian Petrochemical Plant production capacity will climb to 2 million tons of ethylene per year which will turn the plant into the largest producer of ethylene not only in Iran but in the world.
Construction of the plant, which is located in Assaluyeh, onshore installations of South Pars gas field, started in 2006 with 484 million euros and 3.162 billion rials investment.
Using domestic capabilities and getting help from Iranian experts for installation and launching facilities are among the main characteristics of the national plan and that is why the plant is somehow considered as a national symbol.
In order to achieve the “20 Years Perspective” targets, Islamic Republic of Iran plans to implement 8 projects to raise production capacity of ethylene by 7.568 million tons.
Under NPC’s planning, the country’s production capacity of ethylene will rise to 12 million tons up to the end of Iranian calendar year 1394 ( March 2015) and at the same time Kavian Petrochemical Plant will replace Jam Petrochemical Complex as the largest producer of ethylene with production capacity of 2 million tons per year.
