Survival Craft Inspectorate, a global provider of emergency marine evacuation systems, has signed an agreement that will see it establish an operational presence in the Middle East for the first time. The UK-based business has established formal links with Qatar-based IRM Offshore Services in the latest extension of its network of international bases.

Senior figures from Survival Craft Inspectorate traveled to Doha to sign a memorandum of understanding with IRM counterparts in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Chairman of IRM Offshore Services.

The partnership will see IRM offer the supply and maintenance of certified lifesaving equipment to Qatar's onshore and offshore oil and gas industry.

Angus Campbell, Managing Director of Survival Craft Inspectorate, said: "This is a very welcome development for our company. We are delighted to have this opportunity to introduce our products and services to the Middle East market and will endeavour to deliver the standards of performance that have underpinned our growth in other parts of the world in recent years."

"We already operate from nine locations globally and this is a significant new step in terms of our international ambitions," he added.

"I believe our capabilities complement those of IRM very effectively and I look forward to a long and successful partnership that serves both companies, and our customers, well."

IRM is a leading supplier of consultancy, engineering and project management services to the oil and gas industry. Its Director of Operations, Jaison Francis, said: "We selected Survival Craft Inspectorate to fulfil this demanding role as its current objectives and standards of expertise complement those of IRM in terms of the delivery of high quality products and services."

"We see the partnership providing quality and long-term care in the maintenance of both offshore and onshore lifesaving equipment for Qatar's oil & gas sector," he added.

Survival Craft Inspectorate currently has nearly 150 staff at nine locations worldwide: Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth in the UK, Florida and Houston in the United States, Canada, Norway, Singapore, Malaysia and Western Australia.

Survival Craft Inspectorate has more than 20 years' experience in the manufacture, inspection, testing and servicing of lifeboats, fast rescue craft, release mechanisms, winches and davits to international standards for the global merchant shipping, cruise and oil and gas sectors.
