Aminex announced that it took delivery of the Caroil Rig-6 drilling unit at midnight on 2 November 2007. The Caroil Rig-6 was handed over to Aminex’s wholly-owned subsidiary Ndovu Resources Ltd., operator for a five company consortium which will drill Kiliwane-1, the first of two back to back wells on the Nyuni/East Songo-Songo licence offshore Tanzania in the Rufiji River delta. The rig, which has been substantially upgraded to meet the Company’s requirements since it signed a drilling contract with Caroil SA in April this year, has recently drilled a successful development well in the neighbouring Songo-Songo gas field operated by Pan-African Tanzania Ltd.
Kiliwane-1 will be drilled from the islet of Kiliwane lying approximately one kilometre to the south-east of Songo-Songo Island and accessible from Songo-Songo via a causeway. It will be a directional well with the selected bottom hole location approximately 1,200 metres from the surface location. Drilled depth is planned to be approximately 2,500 metres and the target location is designed to test lower cretaceous sand stones which are the reservoirs at the Songo-Songo producing gas field.
Mobilisation to the well site and rig up is estimated to take approximately 2-3 weeks and a further announcement will be made when the well has been spudded.
