The first jacket of South Pars phases 16 was successfully loaded on the special transporter barge last week, and it is ready to be installed in the Persian Gulf waters.
In an interview with PIN, the manager of installation affairs at Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company, Mohammed Vafaei, said: "In the next two weeks and after installation of the 1700-ton jacket of the phase, the construction operation of the upper part of the platform will get started."
Every platform consists of a jacket, deck and peripheral equipment. The jacket of this phase is made of a certain type of steel. The jacket is manufactured in the onshore workshop of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company, in Khoramshahr.
At present, the project aims at daily production of 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80 thousand barrels of gas condensate and 400 tons of sulfur and annual production of 1 million tons of ethane and 1,050,000 tons of LPG-propane and butane-has exceeded 19 percent.
