After paying a visit to the Hengam oilfield platform, minister of petroleum, Dr. Masoud Mirkazemi, attended a ceremony in Qeshm Island to inaugurate Hengam's oil field refining facility in the Island.

Shana correspondent reported from Qeshm Island that the Iran’s minister of petroleum and the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ahamad Qalebane on tuesday visited Hengam oilfield and its oil installations in Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf.

Trail output from Hengam oilfield started in May with 4.000 barrels per day having increased to 7.000 barrels per day at present.

By starting production from the field, Iran for the first time will export oil with a quality of 43.5 degree API.

The structure of the Hengam oil field is similar to a big dome with approximately length of 24 kilometers and approximately width of 12 kilometers. The shared field with Oman is located in the eastern part of the Persian Gulf, 80 percent of it in Iranian territory.

Hengam oil field is located 40 km south of Qeshm Island, 30 km away from Hengam Island and 70 km away from Iran’s shore.
