Petrobras announces a new discovery in well Cabaca Sudeste-2, drilled to delimit the recent oil discovery made in Block 15/06, on the coast of Angola, located about 100 km from shore, with water depths of 470 meters.
Initial assessments indicate the existence of high-quality 34 degree API oil at a flow rate of approximately 7,000 barrels per day. The productivity was restricted to the limited capacity of the surface facilities.
The block is operated by Eni (35%), in partnership with Petrobras (5%), Sonangol Research and Production (15%), SSI Fifteen Limited (20%), Total (15%), Falcon Oil Holding Angola SA (5 %) and Statoil Angola Block 15/06 Award SA (5%).
This is the second discovery made in this block. The first, called Mpungi-1 was also announced this month by means of the drilling of the Mpungi-1 well, located 120 km off the Angolan coast, in water depths of 1,050 meters and a total depth of 2,300 meters. Initial production tests indicated flow rate greater than 6000 barrels per day of light oil.
