JX Starts Extinguishing Fire at Sendai Refinery

JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corp has started extinguishing a fire at its quake-hit Sendai refinery on Tuesday, which broke out after a strong earthquake and tsunami hit the northeast coast of Japan on Friday.

The refinery's land shipping facility for oil products, including storage tanks, caught fire after an explosion late on Friday, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
