After achieving major logistical and security challenges, the new compressor plant in the jungle of Cusco was opened under the name of "Kamani" Matsigenka word of origin that means tomorrow. This ceremony was attended by Gonzalo Tamayo, minister of energy and mines; Raul Perez-Reyes, vice minister of energy; Jesus Tamayo, president of Osinergmin; and Omar Chambergo, director of the DGH; as well as other executives of the sector.

The event took place at the TgP’s operations center in Lurin. In it, the minister, along with Adolfo Heeren and Alfredo Ergas, CEO and chairman of TgP respectively, authorized the commercial start-up via a fiber optics connection, which allowed to appreciate the precise moment in which the valves opened allowing the passage of natural gas to the turbo compressors equipment.

Later, Alfredo Ergas said "Thanks to this plant and the Coast Loop that increased in over 50% the capacity of transporting natural gas for the domestic market, we have reached 920 MMcfd, which means more gas for households, vehicles, industries and 50% of electricity generation for the country."

This facility is located in the progressive KP 127 of our transportation system in the province of La Convencion, in the jungle of the Cusco region. In 2012 the construction of this Compressor Plant begun and, after overcoming a series of adversities, is already operational. Its construction required 5,649,461 manhours to finish it.

At a cost of 400 million dollars, Kamani Compressor Plant is equipped with four turbo compressors of 18,000 HP each, representing a total installed capacity of 72,000 HP. Furthermore, this has a protection that allows to reduce the sound generated and therefore reduce the impact and keep harmony with the environment.

With this new expansion, TgP meets its commitments with the Peruvian government to increase transport capacity for the domestic market, allowing to meet the growing demand for natural gas of the main economic sectors.
