Bunker Fuel Regulations a Central Topic at Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference BahrainSource: www.gulfoilandgas.com 11/16/2017, Location: Middle East
With the deadline looming for the implementation of the bunker fuel regulations in 2020, it is not surprising that this will be the dominating subject for discussion at Euro Petroleum Consultants’ upcoming BBTC MENA 2017 – Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference taking place on 4-5 December in Bahrain.
The result of the International Maritime Organisation’s MARPOL VI means that the refining industry will need to convert around 150mte of residue to 0.50 mass % sulphur, therefore, having a massive impact on refinery configuration and operations.
“Whilst any regulatory compliance always provides challenges, it can also offer many opportunities such as driving future investments, projects and technological advances” explains Colin Chapman president of Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC), the organisers of the event. “Our esteemed panellists and speakers at the conference will be discussing the challenges and opportunities including the potential international and regional impact on margins and crude prices”.
BBTC – Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference, first established by EPC 17 years ago, continues to be the only event that focuses on technologies, project trends, catalysts and equipment innovations for residue upgrading in refineries around the world. The Middle East edition is taking place under the Patronage of H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, with the support of the National Oil & Gas Authority (NOGA) and Bapco as Principal Sponsor.
“We have all the key players from the region confirmed to participate and the event will provide an unrivalled platform for refining specialists, technical advisors, licensors, contractors and service providers for knowledge sharing, networking and planning for the future of our industry” added Mr Chapman.
