Following geological prospecting works in 2017, Gazprom Neft subsidiary Gazpromneft-Khantos has discovered a new oilfield at a promising licence block in the Kondinsky district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. Recoverable C1+C2 reserves at this new asset, as recorded at the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, stand at 25 million tonnes and the field is, under current Russian classification, categorised as significant. The State Commission on Mineral Reserves has approved Gazprom Neft’s application for the new field to be named in honour of Alexander Zhagrin, the former Head of the company’sOil and Gas Production Directorate, who passed away suddenly on 10 December 2017. Under Mr Zhagrin’s leadership Gazprom Neft not only succeeded in increasing production, but did so at a record rate for the industry. Gazpromneft-Khantos has been undertaking geological prospecting works at the Kondinsky district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra since 2015, with seismic works planned and undertaken, a geological model of the reservoir created, and a prospecting and appraisal well drilled — completely autonomously, and in the shortest possible time. In testing the main exploration target the first prospecting and appraisal well delivered an inflow of dry crude with design flow rate of 50 cubic meters per day. Gazprom Neft will continue geological prospecting works at the A. Zhagrin field, to include seismic investigations and the drilling of a second prospecting and appraisal well. Pursuant to the development plan, 195 wells are to be drilled at this asset by 2023.
