Apache Results from Geauxpher Field at Garden Banks 462 in Mexico

Apache Corporation said that the deepwater Geauxpher Field at Garden Banks Block 462 in the Gulf of Mexico is producing 115 million cubic feet (MMcf) of natural gas per day from two wells.

Geauxpher, which is about 150 miles from the Louisiana coast in water 2,700 feet deep, is connected by a 40-mile pipeline to processing facilities at a third-party-operated platform at Garden Banks 72. After processing, the gas is transported via pipeline to onshore facilities.

Field development was expedited after the June 2008 discovery at the Apache-generated prospect. Apache has a 40-percent interest in the field; Mariner Energy operates the field and owns the remaining 60 percent.

"Bringing a deepwater field on production just 11 months after discovery is a major achievement," said Jon Jeppesen, Apache's senior vice president - Gulf Coast Region. "First production would have come sooner but for the disruptions caused by Hurricane Ike.

"We have had a very productive partnership with the Mariner team," Jeppesen said. "They shared our sense of urgency in finding and developing this field. We're looking forward to working with them in the future."
