Shizen International Inc. (Shizen International), a group company of the Shizen Energy Group, signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Majuperak Holdings Berhad (MHB), an established State Government-Linked Company (GLC) in Perak, Malaysia, to cooperate in the development of ground-mounted solar power projects and assess bodies of water suitable for floating solar projects in Perak. The signing took place on April 25, 2024, in Fukuoka City, Japan.
Under the MOU, the two parties will jointly develop ground-mounted solar projects in the State of Perak, conduct feasibility studies on floating solar projects, and consider co-funding the projects.
The MoU was signed by Syed Agil Syed Hashim, Group Chief Executive Officer of MHB, and Rei Ushikubo, Chief Executive Officer of Shizen International. Witnessing the ceremony were YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani bin Mohamad, Chief Minister of Perak; Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak, Chief Executive of Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) and Executive Chairman of MHB; Oliver Senter, Executive Officer at Shizen Energy Inc. responsible for Investment & Strategy and Ryo Ogawa, Chief Operating Officer of Shizen International. Also present at the ceremony were the Perak State Secretary, Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, the Perak State Financial Officer, Dato’ Mohd Zaki Mahyudin and the Perak Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman, YB Loh Sze Yee.
Shizen Energy Inc. is based in Fukuoka City, which shares a sister city relationship with Ipoh, Perak. Since signing a sister city agreement in 1989, the two cities have fostered robust educational and cultural exchanges. Shintaro Nakamura, the Director of the International Cooperation Section of Fukuoka City, was also present to commemorate the event.
