In March 2024, Forsmark Kraftgrupp AB and Framatome have signed a contract to conduct a pre-study for the modernization of the frequency drive system of the Forsmark nuclear power plant in Sweden. This system notably contributes to the control of the power output of nuclear reactor. The objective of this pre-study, set to run for 6-9 months, is to jointly develop a concept for this modernization.
In addition to this pre-study on modernization, Framatome will provide support to the units 3 and 4 of the Swedish Ringhals Nuclear Power Plants for underwater In-Service-Inspection (ISI) activities on baffle bolts and, also for the first time, on clevis bolts as part of a 4-year service contract. The operations will start in 2024, with work carried out on a yearly basis, alternating between baffle bolt and clevis bolt inspections.
“We are happy to collaborate with Swedish nuclear plants to support long term operation, on the one hand, with our knowledge and expertise, and, on the other hand, to extend the cooperation applying the first inspections on clevis bolts in addition to the well known process for baffle bolts”, confirms Tilo Landgraf, executive vice president of Installed Base in Germany.
