The head of KMG thanked the representatives of IFC for the methodological support provided during the preparation of the first report on methane emissions and the Implementation Plan sent to UNEP (UN Environment Program) within the framework of OGMP 2.0 (The Oil & Gas Methane Partnership) partnership obligations at the end of May this year. expressed.
During the meeting, Ms. Hela Sheikhrouh noted that IFC will provide technical and advisory support to the preparation of the 2nd report and Implementation Plan of KMG within the framework of OGMP 2.0 in 2025.
The joint efforts of the parties will be focused on the analysis and identification of methods for reducing methane emissions. These works are carried out with the financial support of IFC.
At the meeting, questions on strengthening state regulation were also discussed, defining the goals for reducing carbon dioxide and methane emissions in the relevant sectors of the economy, including the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan.
