ABL France proudly participated as part of the AVEL-VOR team in the 2024 Floating Wind Challenge (FWC), held from July 1st to 6th at Plage Napoléon in Fos-sur-Mer near Marseille. This international event encourages young engineers to design and build the best floating wind support structure. For this year’s edition, participants were tasked with constructing the best floating wind support structure for a Vevor 400W turbine.

The competition, which attracted 12 teams from France, Taiwan, Japan, the United States, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium, aims to drive advancements in renewable energy. Participants are tasked not only with showcasing technical skills but also with promoting sustainability and efficiency in offshore wind solutions.

AVEL-VOR, representing ENSTA Bretagne and its MSc in Marine Renewable Energies programme, demonstrated remarkable skill and dedication. Under the leadership of their project manager, Abdessalem Yacoubi, Intern Offshore engineer, ABL France, the team undertook rigorous testing of their mock-up at sea, ensuring its robustness and effectiveness.

The teams hard work and creative approach led to their impressive wins in the following categories:
