We at Bute Energy congratulate Green Gen Cymru [GGC] for the approval of their IDNO licence by Ofgem, as well as the appointment of their new Chairman Bleddyn Phillips.
GGC’s distribution licence is a vital moment for the grid and energy system in Wales. GGC’s network will significantly increase Wales’ capacity for energy generation and distribution. That’s exactly what the country needs if we are to meet our energy requirements and the Welsh government’s climate and renewables targets.
Bute Energy will play its part by producing clean, green energy to be distributed across the network. Our plans will see £3bn invested directly in the economy, with the potential to generate a quarter of the Welsh government’s target for 100% of Wales’ electricity to come from renewable sources by 2035. This is also 13% of the capacity required to meet the UK government’s commitment to double onshore wind across the UK by 2030.
We look forward to continuing our work with communities and partners including GGC to deliver a cleaner, greener future for Wales.
