A delegation from the Libyan company NOC is visiting Algeria at the invitation of the General Management of SONATRACH, from July 29 to 31, 2024.
After a first meeting held by videoconference between the SONATRACH and NOC teams for the establishment of a steering committee and technical subcommittees dedicated to each theme, a second meeting was organized on July 29, 2024, in the SONATRACH offices in Algiers.
This second meeting allowed both parties to set up a schedule of actions to be undertaken concerning the various themes identified in the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties in February 2022 and its amendment signed in January 2024.
The Technical Committee set up by the parties will examine the possibility of collaboration between the subsidiaries of SONATRACH and NOC in the field of drilling, geophysics, well intervention and stimulation.
As a reminder, the Chairman and CEO of SONATRACH, Mr. Rachid HACHICHI and Mr. Farhat Omar BENGDARA, Chairman of NOC (Libyan National Oil Company), signed on January 14, 2024 an amendment to the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two parties on February 10, 2022.
This amendment enriched the areas of partnership agreed between the two companies by integrating new areas of cooperation, particularly in the exploration and development of oil and gas resources, renewable energy projects, oil services (geophysics, drilling, stimulation, etc.) and finally, training, exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge.
On the sidelines of this meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the CEOs of ENTP (National Company of Petroleum Works) and the Libyan company NWD, in the presence of Mr. Rachid HACHICHI, CEO of the SONATRACH Group and Mr. Hussein SAFAR, member of the board of directors of NOC.
This MoU will allow the provision by ENTP of drilling and workover rigs, as well as maintenance and training services.
It should be noted that during its visit to Algeria, the delegation of NOC Libya will visit the research laboratory of the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP).
