Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) received an emergency request from Hokuriku Electric Power Co., Inc. (Hokuriku Electric Power) for earthquake restoration work for a flue gas desulfurization unit at their Nanao-Ota Thermal Power Plant Units 1 and 2. We are delighted to announce that the restoration work was completed by July 2, 2024.
Hokuriku Electric Power’s Thermal Power Plant suffered significant pipe rack damage following the earthquake that occurred on the Noto peninsula on January 1, 2024, and they contacted Chiyoda to request restoration work to damaged units as a matter of urgency. Chiyoda commenced emergency work to maintain the function of the flue gas desulfurization pipe rack at Units 1 and 2 in February this year, completing Unit 2 on May 10 and Unit 1 on July 2.
The Nanao-Ota Thermal Power plant is Hokuriku Electric Power’s main power plant, and a prolonged shutdown would have had significant impacts. In response to their emergency request to restore power before an increase in power demand during the summer, we initially checked the site for damage before discussing how to proceed and, in collaboration with partner companies, restored the damaged units to recover power in affected areas.
