DP World is expanding its specialist logistics service offering for customers in the retail and chemicals sectors, adding new capabilities and expertise to its global networks of supply chain infrastructure.
These new specialisms join DP World’s existing expertise in automotive, perishables, healthcare and tech.
Already handling more than 10% of global containerised trade, DP World is expanding its sector-specific expertise, offering a greater range of tools for end-to-end logistics solutions. This is to ensure its customers—whether in chemicals, retail, or beyond—are equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow with confidence.
Beat Simon, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Logistics, DP World, said: “We are adding fresh impetus to our mission to lead global trade into a more resilient and efficient future. With the addition of new expertise, we enhance our ability to provide an unparalleled service to our customers worldwide, and especially those seeking to access specialised services in two diverse, but fast-evolving sectors in global trade: chemicals and retail.”
DP World has substantial existing expertise in chemicals though its subsidiary Legend Logistics, a Singapore-based global logistics firm. It will continue to build this capability globally to cater for the $4.2 trillion international chemicals industry, which requires sophisticated logistics solutions to boost efficiency, drive down costs, and meet increasingly rigorous environmental and safety standards.
DP World is already anticipating future challenges and opportunities, such as the need for more sustainable logistics solutions and expanding service reach to new emerging markets. The investment in chemicals logistics is designed to support the sector’s projected $1 trillion growth over the next decade.
“Under this expanded offer, we will give our chemicals customers the confidence and capabilities to expand into new markets worldwide, safe in the knowledge that we are unlocking new energy solutions and operating processes to track, measure and reduce environmental impact,” said Simon.
DP World is also growing its retail sector solutions, adding greater ocean and air freight, cold chain logistics and warehousing capacity. DP World’s Hong-Kong-based subsidiary Cargo Services Far East, and its sister company CN Logistics, gives DP World the tools to cater for customers in the retail and high-end fashion sectors. This includes not only expertise and technology but also comprehensive Purchase Order (PO) management capabilities. From origin consolidation to handling retailer POs, these solutions ensure efficient management of finished goods flow, delivering cost savings, transparency, speed to market, and scalability for retail businesses.
DP World continues to be led by its customers worldwide: working to extend its reach, build new capabilities, and open new routes and solutions wherever they’re needed. The group continues to be laser focused on connecting and simplifying processes, reducing friction and enhancing technology to help goods flow faster, and drive global prosperity and opportunity.
