Tekmar Energy, a global leader in subsea cable protection systems and offshore engineering solutions, proudly welcomed a distinguished delegation from South Korea to our Newton Aycliffe headquarters this week. This visit underscores South Korea’s increasing demand for offshore wind energy as part of its ambitious long-term energy transition goals and highlights the country’s interest in proven European technology to support the rapid expansion of its offshore wind capacity.
South Korea’s offshore wind market is expected to exceed 20 GW of installed capacity by 2040, according to 4C Offshore, making it a key player in the global energy transition. As the South Korean government pushes forward with its ambitious carbon neutrality targets, building a robust supply chain and integrating innovative solutions will be critical to overcoming challenges in large-scale offshore wind deployment.
Cindy Kim, Head of Trade at the British Embassy Seoul, remarked:
“The UK and Korea have an opportunity to form a strong collaboration in the offshore wind sector, and Tekmar Energy’s expertise in subsea protection systems is a great example of the valuable knowledge exchange taking place between our two nations. As Korea continues its ambitious offshore wind expansion, partnerships with experienced companies like Tekmar will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of these projects and advancing Korea’s energy transition goals.”
Tekmar Energy’s long-standing relationship with South Korean cable manufacturers and our recent delivery of cutting-edge cable protection systems to South Korea’s first commercial offshore wind farm earlier this year further solidifies our position as a trusted partner in the region. Our proven track record, with over 120 successful offshore wind projects globally, showcases our ability to deliver innovative and reliable solutions that meet the unique demands of the offshore wind industry.
Marc Bell, Managing Director of Tekmar Energy, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome the South Korean delegation to Tekmar Energy. South Korea’s offshore wind market is poised for significant growth, and we are excited to build on our established relationships in the region. Our experience in supplying high-quality cable protection systems positions us to support South Korea’s energy transition goals and contribute to the success of their offshore wind developments.”
The South Korean delegation is conducting tours of key offshore wind companies across the UK, and Tekmar Energy is honoured to be selected as a standout supplier within the industry. As South Korea looks to expand its offshore wind capacity, collaboration with experienced technology providers like Tekmar will be essential to ensure the successful and timely delivery of these large-scale projects.
Tekmar Energy is committed to supporting South Korea’s renewable energy goals through advanced solutions, deep industry knowledge, and continued partnerships. We look forward to working closely with South Korean stakeholders to further strengthen our cooperation and contribute to the global energy transition.
