BEWI, a leader in packaging, components, and insulation solutions, is recognised as one of the best performing companies in PwC’s climate index for 2024. The annual index evaluates the climate efforts and reporting of the 100 largest companies in Norway.

“We are proud of this recognition, an achievement made possible thanks to the hard work from all our employees. We take our responsibility toward the environment very seriously and are committed to continuously reducing our Greenhouse Gas emissions, both within our own operations and throughout our value chain”, says Camilla Bjerkli, Chief Sustainability Officer of the BEWI Group.

In the index, companies are ranked in five different categories. Category one includes the companies that demonstrate an annual reduction of seven per cent or more in their emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. Additionally, the company must report significant indirect emissions (Scope 3) and maintain consistent reporting over the past three years. This year, 18 of the 100 largest companies where in category one, a doubling from nine last year.

BEWI has worked systematically to improve its climate account since the baseline was set for 2020. The company reports on all categories within scope 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) protocol. BEWI has also committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and the 1.5-degree scenario outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement. In 2023, BEWI reduced its total emissions by 14 per cent compared to 2022.

“We continuously work to lead the change towards a circular economy for our industry. By increasing the collection of used EPS and using more recycled material in our products, we reduce our own Greenhouse Gas emissions, while also helping our customers achieve their climate reduction targets by offering them products with a lower carbon footprint”, Bjerkli ends
