The World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is inviting experts, specialists and key stakeholders in climate action to attend its 10th edition, taking place on 2 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. As a premier global platform, the summit will bring together thought leaders from around the world to address critical sustainability challenges and explore innovative solutions that advance the green economy.
WGES is held annually under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It is organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO). This year's summit, themed ‘Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress’, aims to foster dialogue and strengthen international co-operation on climate action, driving efforts towards a greener, more sustainable future.
The 10th edition of the World Green Economy Summit marks a significant milestone in the global climate action agenda, building on the outcomes of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) hosted by the UAE in Expo City Dubai, including the historic UAE Consensus. The summit aims to foster international dialogue and co-operation to accelerate a just and inclusive green transition. It will bring together leading figures, experts and stakeholders from various sectors to exchange knowledge, expertise and insights that can expedite the transition to a sustainable green economy.
WGES will host representatives from governments, the private sector, international institutions and civil society organisations. Through its diverse sessions and seminars, the summit will provide a platform for dialogue on critical sustainability issues and the pressing climate challenges facing the world today. The 10th edition’s thematic pillars include Decarbonisation and Net-Zero Goals, Clean Energy Advancements, Climate Finance, the Circular Economy, Policy and Regulatory Frameworks, Using Technology to Tackle Climate Change, Youth in Climate Action, and Food and Water.
