• The batteries have a capacity of 2 MWh and 4 MWh, respectively, and can handle more than 2,190 MWh per year.
• The renewable energy company is developing 1.5 GW of storage capacity hybridized with photovoltaic.

BRUC, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the renewable energy sector, has reached an important milestone in its strategic plan with the connection of its first two solar hybridized batteries in two of its photovoltaic plants in Cáceres, Cáceres 2020 of 51 MW and Cáceres 2021 of 53 MW. The storage systems installed in the photovoltaic plants have a charging capacity of 2 MWh and 4 MWh, respectively.

State-of-the-art technology has been incorporated in the design of the projects to maximize storage efficiency. In particular, the hybridized batteries are designed to store at least 2,190 MWh of energy annually, capturing the surplus generated during peak solar production hours. This storage system allows the release of stored energy at times of high demand, which optimizes energy flow management.

In addition, this storage strategy not only increases the responsiveness of the energy system to fluctuations in demand, but also improves the stability and resilience of the power grid. By reducing dependence on conventional energy sources during consumption peaks, it minimizes environmental impact and promotes a more sustainable use of energy resources. This creates an enabling environment for the transition to a more efficient and reliable energy system, capable of adapting to changing market and consumer needs.

This pilot project represents for BRUC a further step in the achievement of its strategic plan. The company is currently developing 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of storage systems using battery hybridization at its photovoltaic facilities. This capacity will reduce dependence on solar hours and facilitate more efficient management of electricity production, effectively integrating renewable energy sources and maximizing the stability of energy supply.

“Through storage, BRUC makes the most of the potential of its generation installations, providing an efficiency factor both to the plant itself and to the transmission grid operator,” says Juan Béjar, president of BRUC.

Luis Venero, CEO of BRUC, adds: “The connection of these first batteries is a milestone in the development of BRUC’s business plan, whose main focus is the construction and management of a portfolio of 8,000 MW in Spain, taking advantage of the potential of all the plants through hybridization with wind energy and storage”.
