Vattenfall announces that Christian Barthélémy will be stepping down from his role as Senior Vice President and Head of People & Culture, effective immediately. He will stay on in his role of Country Manager Vattenfall Germany until further notice. Asa Jamal, SVP and Head of Communications will step in as acting Head of People & Culture during the search for a new permanent solution.
Christian Barthélémy has played an important role in the development of the People & Culture function during his tenure, including delivering on transforming the HR-support systems and developing the organization. He has also successfully contributed to the sale of Heat Berlin and the transition of colleagues to the new owner. He joined Vattenfall in 2009, working with human resource-related topics since 2015.
CEO Anna Borg comments the decision:
“Christian has been a valued leader and a great colleague in our Executive Group Management team, and is someone that I appreciate a lot as a person. But after a period of discussions about the further development and future direction of the People & Culture function, we have jointly come to the conclusion that it is time for a different leadership in the function.”
Christian Barthélémy:
"It has been an honor to serve as Head of People & Culture at Vattenfall. While the time has come for me to move on, I leave People & Culture knowing that the organization is in a strong position to continue its important work. I am proud of everything that we have accomplished together and would like to thank all my colleagues and my team. You are doing a great job.”
