The Salliqueló Compressor Plant, located in the province of Buenos Aires, began operating. This facility, equipped with a 15,000 HP compressor , is part of the complementary works of the GPNK, and its start-up marks the completion of the first stage of the project, which improves the gas transportation capacity from Vaca Muerta to the province of Buenos Aires.
The GPNK and the Tratayén Compressor Plant, together with the addition of the 5 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/day) from Salliqueló, were initially designed to transport a volume of 21 MMm³/day. However, the transport capacity has been exceeded, reaching an injection of 23 MMm³/day. Thus, the start-up of the Salliqueló Compressor Plant will challenge the transport capacity of the final sections of Neuba II, enabling full use of the gas pipelines to their current potential. The estimated savings of this volume for 2025 is estimated at 130 million dollars for the country, mainly due to the replacement of liquid fuels in the winter period. The total amount of investment committed in the contracts is 120 million dollars.
The operation of the Salliqueló Compressor Plant had been scheduled for September 2023. However, in December 2023 when it was received, the construction progress only reached 19% in aspects of civil works (there was no progress in piping, electrical wiring, control systems and instrumentation in addition to problems with equipment imports). Despite this, in these 10 months, work was carried out continuously and the plant was completed and is now in operation, thus fulfilling the objective of making it operational to continue optimizing the country's energy infrastructure.
