Completion of a 1 Barrel per Day Synthetic Fuels Demonstration Plant for ENEOS Corporation

Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) and Chiyoda X-ONE Engineering Corporation (CXO), a wholly- owned subsidiary of Chiyoda, are pleased to announce that we have completed an EPC project for a 1 Barrel per Day (BD) Synthetic Fuels Demonstration Plant for ENEOS Corporation (Representative Director, President: Yamaguchi Atsuji; “ENEOS”), operational since September 2024.

The plant is part of a technology development project being conducted by ENEOS, under the ‘Green Innovation Fund Project: Development of Technology for Producing Fuel Using CO2 (Project No.:JPNP21022)’, funded by NEDO*. The aim is to establish early-stage technology for the production of synthetic fuels using hydrogen and CO2 with the goal of implementing carbon-neutral fuel production technology in the future. This small-scale demonstration plant will evaluate key technological elements for improving the yield of liquid fuel to over 80%, and demonstrate the continuous production of synthetic fuels in preparation for future social implementation.

A completion ceremony for the plant was held at ENEOS Central Technical Research Laboratory on September 28th 2024, attended by Representative Director, CEO Miyata of ENEOS Holdings, Inc., President Yamaguchi of ENEOS Corporation, Member of Parliament, representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, NEDO and NIPPON STEEL ENGINEERING CO., LTD. The ceremony included ribbon-cutting, a visit to the Demonstration Plant and a test drive using vehicles powered by the synthetic fuels it produces. Representative Director, CEO Miyata delivered a speech expressing strong determination for the early social implementation of synthetic fuels.
