Bergen Engines is pleased to announce an order for two Bergen B33:45L6P propulsion engines following close collaboration with Karstensens Skibsværft A/S of Skagen, Denmark. The new engines will power Østerbris’ new combined purse-seiner/trawler, an 86-meter vessel expected to be delivered in January 2027.

“We are thrilled that Karstensens Skibsværft A/S and Østerbris AS have chosen Bergen Engines for this prestigious project,” said Kjell Harloff, Head of Sales – Marine at Bergen Engines. “Our B33:45L6P engines are ideally suited to the fishing industry, where reliability, fuel efficiency, and ease of service are essential. We’re excited to continue our strong partnership with the yard, and this newbuild marks our 10th project together in the past six years.”

The Seiner will be powered by two Bergen B33:45L6P engines, each delivering 3,600 kW. The modular design offers service-friendly solutions with extended service intervals of up to 25,000 hours, minimizing both downtime and maintenance costs.

Additionally, Bergen’s B33:45L6P engines are designed for fast load response, low vibration, and minimal noise, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency and greater crew comfort.

The B33:45L series is a future-proof solution, offering fuel flexibility. It is compatible with both biofuels (HVO and FAME) and meets the Methanol Ready notation, ensuring adaptability to evolving environmental regulations.

The vessel’s propulsion system will also include a large single propeller system from Brunvoll, a trusted partner with whom Bergen Engines has successfully collaborated on several recent newbuild projects.
