Kempower is proud to partner with a nation-wide public charge point operator ABC-Lataus to deliver its EV fast-charging solutions for ABC’s growing network of fast-charging hubs across Finland. In October ABC opened Finland’s largest public EV fast-charging hub in Heinola. The hub is equipped with 32 charging points, 27 of which offer fast charging powered by Kempower’s DC fast-charging solutions.

The new Heinola site is strategically located along the busy Route 4 and includes a variety of charging options for different vehicle needs, including one station with a Chademo connector for models like the Nissan Leaf. This site has more charging points than any other public EV fast-charging hub in Finland.

The Heinola hub also offers nearby amenities, such as restaurants and shops, creating a convenient stop for EV drivers. ABC-Lataus’s app makes using the charging points simple and efficient, as drivers can start charging without tags or cards, and it’s seamlessly integrated with Kempower ChargEye for a streamlined user experience.

By the end of the year, ABC-lataus will launch similar large-scale charging hubs with Kempower fast-charging solutions at three additional key locations: ABC Forssa on Route 2, ABC Tiiriö in Hämeenlinna on Route 3, and ABC Renkomäki in Lahti on Route 4. An additional charging hub in Riihimäki is set to open next year.

“Partnering with ABC-Lataus to expand Finland’s fast-charging network is an important step towards advancing sustainable transportation in the country. Our DC fast-charging solutions at the Heinola hub provide dynamic power distribution, ensuring efficient and reliable charging for a wide range of electric vehicles. With 2.4 MW of total capacity, this site demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-performance charging, even during peak demand,” said Antti Jokelainen, Head of Sales, Finland and the Baltics at Kempower.

The Kempower Satellite charging systems at these new sites offer dynamic power distribution, ensuring each vehicle receives the optimal charging power it can handle. The Heinola site has a combined charging power of 2,400 kilowatts, enabling up to 24 vehicles to charge at 100 kW simultaneously. For cars with 400-volt technology, peak charging rates can reach 200 kW, while 800-volt vehicles can charge at up to 400 kW.

ABC’s collaboration with Kempower strengthens ABC’s EV charging network, which now includes around 340 charging stations and 2,100 plugs across Finland. Approximately half of these chargers are high-power units, delivering between 100 to 200 kW.

Looking ahead, Kempower is ready to support further developments in Finland’s EV fast-charging infrastructure, particularly as demand for high-power charging solutions for electric trucks begins to emerge.
