Exel Composites has signed a multi-year supply agreement for composite helihoist systems for offshore wind turbines with a major western wind turbine manufacturer. The composite components will be manufactured with pultrusion at Exel’s Nanjing factory in China, followed by necessary post-processing and assembly work. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2025.?

Helihoist is a helicopter hoisting system crucial for offshore wind turbines allowing the safe and efficient transfer of personnel, tools, and equipment to the turbine nacelle. It plays an important role in enhancing operational safety, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring high productivity by providing quick access for maintenance and emergency response. Composites enable a long-lasting, light-weight and corrosion resistant solution that ensures that wind turbines withstand the demanding operation environment.

“Our pultruded composite profiles enhance the performance of wind turbines in challenging environments. We are happy to support our customer in ensuring a safe and reliable operation for their offshore wind turbines”, Kathy Wang, EVP Industrial Solutions at Exel Composites.

Exel Composites offers wind turbine manufacturers a comprehensive range of glass fiber and carbon fiber composite components required for the manufacturing of modern onshore and offshore wind turbines.
