Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, stressed the ministry's keenness to maximize gas production in the country, through developing gas fields and optimal investment of gas associated with production operations.

This came during his sponsorship and attendance of the signing of the contract to develop the Mansouriya gas field in Diyala Governorate, which took place today, Thursday, at the ministry's headquarters. The minister said that today is a historic day for the ministry and the governorate by signing the contract with the coalition of the Chinese companies (Jera) and (Petro Iraq) in the final form, to develop the Mansouriya gas field, which will provide the gas sector with additional quantities of production estimated at (300) cubic meters per day, stressing the importance of the implementing company's commitment to the timetables for the development stages and the correct activation of the contract.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil confirmed that the Mansouriya field is one of the promising fields in gas production, which will contribute to meeting the country's need for gas to supply the national network of gas-fired power plants. It is a great achievement for the economic and social benefits that will be achieved, which will positively reflect on the reality of the province and provide job opportunities for the workforce.

The Minister pointed out that the Ministry signed 14 contracts a few days ago, out of the contracts that were referred within the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds. This number of contracts is considered a great achievement for the Ministry of Oil and the government in the field of gas investment, which is emphasized by the government program. He added that the contracts of the two licensing rounds will add more than 850 cubic meters of gas and about 750 thousand barrels of crude oil, which will contribute to maximizing the financial resources of the Iraqi state and developing the national economy.

The Director General of the Middle Oil Company, Mohammed Yassin Hassan, said that signing the contract to develop the Mansouriya field comes within the framework of the extensive follow-up of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil regarding investment in the gas sector, and it also confirms the Ministry's keenness to maximize the country's financial revenues, adding that it is hoped that the initial production of the field will start at (100) mmcf, reaching more than (300) mmcf per day, which will feed the Mansouriya gas station, indicating that the development of dry gas fields represents a very important shift in the gas sector, especially in Diyala Governorate.

The Managing Director of (Jera) Company, Mr. "Lee Weibin", expressed his happiness at signing the contract and his presence in Iraq, stressing that the implementation of the contract concluded with the Ministry of Oil will be within the specified period, praising the Ministry's cooperation.
