Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has issued a Type Approval Certificate to Cold Pad for its innovative bonded mechanical fastener, the C-Claw S-300. This marks the first certification for this technology.
The C-Claw S-300 is a non-intrusive fastener specifically designed for the maritime and offshore industry, offering a safer, durable alternative to traditional welding, drilling and magnets. The fastener is engineered to withstand tension, and shear loads up to 300 kg and utilizes a process-controlled installation, eliminating the need for hot work. This enhances installation safety and efficiency while minimizing operational downtime. Designed for harsh conditions, it is suitable for use in shipbuilding and fixed or floating offshore structures.
Jean-Philippe COURT, President and Founder of Cold Pad, said:
“It is a step forward in the world of bonded fasteners for maritime and industrial applications. With a design life of 35 years indoors and 20 years outdoors, the C-Claw S-300 becomes a cheaper and safer cold alternative to any hot or intrusive work such as welding or bolting.”
We are pleased to be the first Classification Society to certify this innovative technology. Cold Pad's C-Claw S-300 is a great example of how innovation can enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in the maritime industry. This certification reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting new technologies that benefit the industry as a whole.Stéphane Paboeuf, Head of Composite Materials Section – Research Department
