In implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul-Ghani, to establish fuel warehouses in the oil fields, the Director of the West Qurna 1 Field Operating Authority, Mr. Asaad Abboud, inaugurated today, Monday, the first phase of the new fuel warehouse in the West Qurna 1 field with a capacity of 800 thousand liters, indicating that the capacity of the old warehouse in the field that will be transferred to the new warehouse, as a second phase of the project, is 400 thousand liters, so that the total capacity of the new warehouse in the two phases is (1) million and (200) thousand liters.
The Director of the Operating Authority stressed the importance of establishing fuel warehouses inside the oil fields to increase the capacity and benefit from them as storage in emergency situations. He pointed out that the West Qurna 1 Operating Authority has started constructing a new fuel depot as a first phase to manufacture and install 8 fuel tanks with a capacity of 100,000 liters per tank, in addition to the accessories that include (pumps, meters and generators), in addition to constructing a building that includes a control room and rooms for managing the depot.
He added that the second phase will include transferring the old depot's fuel storage containers to the new depot to add its capacity, and the total storage quantities will cover the field's fuel needs, especially submersible pump wells, while maintaining a strategic stock that can be used in emergency situations.
