Commercial Deals Signed for Angola's First Non-Associated Gas Project

Angola's New Gas Consortium (NGC) has signed all the requisite commercial agreements to expedite gas production at the country's first non-associated gas project. The $2.4 billion project is currently 50% complete and – with the signed agreements – is on track for production by early-2026.

Signed between the NGC and Angola's upstream regulator the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency, the deals include a Risk Service Agreement as well as all auxiliary commercial deals. The deals will see the project start 6 months ahead of schedule.

According to Adriano Mongini, CEO of NGC-operator Azule Energy, the development “reflects our strong commitment to enhancing the country's position as a top gas producer. This project not only reinforces our position as a leader in energy production but also strengthens our partnership with the Angolan government in driving sustainable economic growth.”

NGC partners include energy companies Azule Energy (operator), Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited, Sonangol E&P and TotalEnergies.
