The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has carried out an audit of the planning and execution by Equinor and COSL Drilling Europe AS (COSL) of production wells on the Eirin field.
The audit was conducted between 30 September and 17 October 2024.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify that Equinor and COSL are complying with the regulatory requirements, as well as their own requirements, in relation to the planning and execution of operations. This includes risk assessments and analyses, documentation, and risk communication.
Result
We identified four non-conformities, concerning:
Pore pressure prediction and uncertainty (Equinor)
Capacity of sludge tanks when drilling the reservoirs (Equinor)
Exemption in the event of deviation from operational procedure (Equinor)
Well control certification (COSL)
We also identified one improvement point related to work on a pressurised system (COSL).
What happens next?
Equinor and COSL have been given a deadline of 16 December 2024 to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement point observed.
