In implementation of its ambitious plans, the Middle Oil Company announced the success of its project to feed the Taji Thermal Power Plant with locally produced gas from the East Baghdad field. The company's General Manager, Mr. Mohammed Yassin Hassan, confirmed that "this achievement comes in implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, His Excellency the Minister of Oil, Eng. Sayyed Hayan Abdul Ghani, to maximize the benefit from national resources." He added, "Our engineers and technicians succeeded in converting the associated gas into strategic resources, as the station was equipped with an amount of 15 cubic meters of gas, which contributes to the production of (50) megawatts of electrical energy, indicating that this will work to rely on the gas produced in the country, instead of what was imported earlier.
Yassin praised the efforts of the technical staff in the Pipelines Company and their contribution to achieving the achievement, stressing that the dedication of the work teams to rehabilitate the gas transmission network and overcome challenges was a decisive factor in the success of the project.
The Director General also appreciated the fruitful cooperation and high coordination with the staff of the Ministry of Electricity, represented by the Fuel Directorate and the Taji Gas Power Plant, which contributed to the success of the feeding process.
The Director General explained that the success of the project opens new horizons for investing gas in other fields, which enhances the independence of the Iraqi energy sector and supports sustainable development plans in the country.
This achievement represents a qualitative shift in the path of Iraqi energy, as it achieves three strategic goals, the first of which is reducing dependence on imported gas, second, reducing environmental impacts, and third, providing large financial resources To the state treasury.
