The Electricity and Renewable Energy Ministry is playing host to the 15th Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, which will start proceedings in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Sunday.
The meeting will be attended by a number of ministers concerned with electricity affairs in Arab countries and representatives of 22 Arab countries and experts in the Arab League, according to a statement by the Electricity and Renewable Energy Ministry on Saturday 30/11/2024.
This session is very important as it will eye the signing of two electricity agreements of the Arab Common Market to establish a common Arab market and a comprehensive Arab electrical interconnection as the most important Arab integral project, it said.
The move comes as part of the Egyptian position that is supporting and backing all vistas of joint Arab action and the construction of an Arab Common Market under the umbrella of the pan-Arab organization and its relevant institutions, added the statement.
Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat underlined the importance of completing joint Arab power interconnection projects to activate Arab Integrated Electricity Market in Arab States.
The Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project will be operational next Summer, he added.
