TurningPoint Energy (TPE) and Madison Energy Infrastructure (MEI) announced their first community solar partnership, a 20 MW portfolio in Will County, Illinois.

TPE developed the four-project portfolio, which will contribute to Illinois’ goal to replace 100% of its existing energy sources with renewable energy by 2050, with a target to reach at least 40% over the next six years. MEI is the long-term owner and will construct, operate and deliver community solar subscriptions to both the company’s commercial clients and local residents.

"This portfolio represents another steppingstone in TPE’s commitment to support Illinois’s clean energy targets through community solar,” said Salar Naini, President of TurningPoint Energy. “We have admired MEI as a company and are pleased to partner with them on this inaugural portfolio in particular, where MEI’s long-term ownership and management will ensure all four projects benefit Will County over the next several decades.”

“This collaboration reflects MEI’s focus on delivering high-impact clean energy solutions to our corporate clients and the communities we serve,” said Zachary Muzdakis, Director of Market Development at Madison Energy Infrastructure. “By combining TurningPoint’s development expertise with our operational and financial capabilities, we’re not just deploying clean energy at scale, but also strengthening the local economy through sustained community investment.”

The four community solar projects range from 2.8 MWdc to 7.5 MWdc. Located in the City of Joliet and the Villages of Crete and Peotone, the 20 MW portfolio will generate over 30 GWh in its first year of operation alone, providing several leading corporations and approximately 1,000 residential customers access to clean energy benefits.

The portfolio is part of TPE’s ongoing goal to develop over $500MM across 40 community solar projects in Illinois, and to invest over half a million dollars in the state’s local communities though charitable donations. TPE has already exceeded this local community investment goal, with over $725,000 in planned donations across its Illinois community solar project development communities.

For this specific portfolio, TPE and MEI have committed a combined $100,000 in charitable donations to several local Will County non-profit and community organizations, including Angels on Assignment and the Peotone Future Farmers of America.
