The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has carried out an audit of Equinor at Tjeldbergodden in the domains of emergency preparedness and major accidents.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to obtain confirmation that Equinor, as the operator at Tjeldbergodden, is meeting the requirements for robust emergency preparedness, including capacity and competence in its own emergency response personnel, and the inclusion of contract personnel.
We have also followed up on how the business complies with requirements in the Major Accident Regulations and guidelines for 2024, with an emphasis on the maintenance and ageing of emergency response apparatus and equipment, and that it reliably provides information to the public about safety measures in relation to operations at Tjeldbergodden.
Result
Three non-conformities were identified, concerning:
Safety report
Signage and marking in factory and outdoor areas
Personnel overview in the event of incidents
Furthermore, one improvement point was identified concerning guidelines and routines for handling personal protective equipment and the clarification of dirty and clean zones at the fire station.
What happens next?
We have asked Equinor to report by 20 December 2024 on how the non-conformities will be addressed and for their assessment of the improvement point observed.
