Repsol has resumed its exploration activities in the Murzuq Basin after more than a decade of suspension, which began in 2014.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the company commenced drilling operations at the A1-2/130 (Neser Prospect) exploratory well.

The company will test the Memonyat Formation, with the final depth of the well to reach 6,050 feet.

The well is located 800 kilometers from the capital, Tripoli, and only 12 kilometers from the Sharara oil field.
