
At the start of his visit to Brussels, Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, met on Sunday, January 19, 2025, with Mr. Wim Dehon, General Manager of Electric Interconnection Projects at the Belgian company Jan De Nul.
Minister Abdelatty praised the ongoing cooperation with the Belgian company, which has contributed to numerous projects in Egypt and signed a memorandum of understanding on collaboration in exporting renewable energy from Egypt to Europe. He welcomed the company's interest in contributing to the implementation of the Egypt-Greece electric interconnection project (GREGY), highlighting Egypt's special focus on green transition efforts. This includes implementing a national green hydrogen strategy and creating a conducive environment for investment in this sector.
The minister also reviewed Egypt’s investment incentives and the competitive advantages of its business climate. He outlined the key policies implemented by the Egyptian government under its economic reform plan, emphasizing the importance placed on empowering the private sector and attracting foreign direct investment. Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting foreign companies operating in the country and resolving any obstacles they may face, expressing eagerness to see the company further expand its investments in Egypt.
