During a routine inspection, an emergency shutdown of KKB 2 was inadvertently triggered. The plant was in a safe condition at all times. It will be brought back online after consultation with ENSI.

Due to incorrect operation, the reactor in Block 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) was shut down quickly today at 1:05 p.m. during a routine inspection. The plant reacted as designed and was in a safe condition at all times. The supervisory authority ENSI and other authorities were informed as required.

The KKB is bringing the plant back online after consultation with ENSI.

During the restart, water vapor is visible above the plant's machine room (non-nuclear part). There is no danger to the population or the environment.
