Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) signed a 117 million-Kuwaiti-dinar (407 million US dollar) contract with Italy's Maire Tecnimont SpA for an acid gas removal project at the Mina Al- Ahmadi refinery.
"We signed today," Mohammed al-Ajmi, a spokesman for the Kuwaiti state-run refiner, said by telephone. The contract is for three years, he said.
Mina Al-Ahmadi is the biggest of Kuwait's three refineries and has a capacity of 460,000 barrels per day (bpd).
