Iran-Turkmenistan Gas Pipeline Progress by 95 %

Managing director of the Iranís Gas Engineering and Development Company, Alireza Gharibi says the second phase of Iran-Turkmenistan gas pipeline has progressed by 95 percent noting the 48 inch pipeline will be tested by injecting gas in October.

Alireza Gharibe told Shana that welding, digging canal, insulation and x-ray operations of the pipeline have come to an end adding the pipeline needs to pass fourteen tests to ensure not leaking, five tests have been completed successfully.

According to the official remarks, the second phase of the Iran-Turkmenistan gas pipeline includes four valves in its route, two of them have been tested successfully by Iranaian experts and the two others is slated to be tested early October.

The 155 kilometer length, 48 inch gas pipeline has the capacity to transfer 45 million cubic meters of gas per day. The projectís cost estimated to be 180 million dollars.By linking the Iran - Turkmenistan gas pipeline to Iranís cross country gas network, Iran will be able to import six billion cubic meters of gas a year from the neighboring country while the volume of gas trade between the two countries will mount up.
